Business Social Networking Skills
This post is mainly for newbies but can also be of value to online vets who could use a reminder of the basics of Social Marketing Networks. This is about the benefits and importance of basics I see everyday being neglected by Marketers who expect people to reach in their wallets and spend their hard earned money.
1. If you've taken the time to join a Social or Marketing network you have to be sure to spend a little time there otherwise why did you waste your time creating a profile?
2. Make sure your profile is up to date, I'm seeing more and more profiles looking really sad or abandoned.
3. If you expect people to spend their money with you and they see that your profile is sorry the first thing they'll do is laugh and the second thing they'll do is totally ignore you, in that order.
4. Use a picture of yourself, while your pet is cute I'm sure and a sunset or sunrise is beautiful and your Business logo is tight, I'd much rather see who I'm dealing with. What, are you in the witness protection program?
5. If all I see you doing is selling, I'm not going to take you seriously. You mean to tell me that you have no comments about anything? No opinions? No statements but I'm expected to spend my money with you? Really?
6. Social Networks demand an active presence, If your profile isn't up to date and you're not commenting you don't exist in mine or anyone else's book.
7. If you want to be an observer and just take up residence and play the Zombie role you're probably wasting your time.
8. I strongly suggest people don't even create a profile unless they plan on being active and contributing to that Marketing network.
9. I put a lot of work in on my Marketing networks and guess what? You're going to have to put your own work in like everybody else or run the risk of joining that 97% of Marketers who fail.
10. If this post is a little too harsh guess what? You'll either get off your butt and get to work, or go and grab a handful of Kleenex.

Hey Paul, you got my attention with those words of wisdom. I do all I can now with a full time management job and I am sure many others do as well. Great advise.I'm glad I am already working toward those goals you mentioned. Burning the midnight oil now while my wife sleeps. Far more activity scheduled on social sites and ads, both free and paid, are taking a lot of time. Still it's all going to pay off. I see my sites climbing the Google ads list and am excited about the progress, as well as th

Absolutely correct a profile exhibits the active participation in a network coz it reflects how the user has interest in the network rather than just joining it.

Well said! I run a social network that pays its members and those that are active on the site and refer others earn money (for July one member has earned over $13!). But I've always found that the ones who complain about not being paid much are the ones who do nothing or next to nothing!
With anything, what you get out is the result of what you put in - that goes for time, thought and effort combined!

I love it when I read these ads that say "Fully Automated The System Does All The Work For You". Not harsh Paul, just a lesson in reality. Agreed 100%!

This is Paul, telling like it is. No holds barred. In my opinion the points are not harsh - they are just simply the TRUTH, nothing but the TRUTH and are of value to EVERYONE. I made sure I read this article twice so as to fully remind myself of these seemingly basic but very important points.
