Burp Cloth Pattern-Why is it essential?

by Ranny Watson Blogger

Burp cloths are one of those baby products that hold a crucial part in the wardrobe. They are a basic baby essential used to clean the babies. These burp cloths help you wipe the baby when they spit-up. These are used to keep the baby clean whenever they feel spitting up because babies often feel spitting when they burp. Parents these days rely on any random soft cloth present at home. But while looking for a burp cloth, you must consider two important factors. First, the burp cloth pattern should be gentle; the quality should be good so that it is suitable for the baby’s delicate skin. Second, you must see that the burp cloth is absorbent and large to shield you while burping the baby.

Baby burp cloths are available in different patterns and designs, and some retailers also offer them customised names. Excellent quality of baby burp cloth pattern takes care of your baby’s burps if they are messy or wet. They have a long-lasting shelf life and promise good quality for repetitive use. Using burp cloths is economically sustainable because they are cheap and recyclable. You can use them as facecloths and even baby wipes when the little one is capable of feeding himself. You can even make these burp cloths by yourself using the material available at your home. It is cost-effective, plus you get to add more burp cloths in your wardrobe. You can also make them as baby gifts.

If you want to get the burp cloth pattern, they are available in three different shapes-

  • Rectangle ‘

  • Two-Sided Contoured

  • One-Sided Contoured

The trick to buying the best burp cloth for kids is to check the fabric and the quality. It should be soft and absorbent. If you make them by yourself, make sure that you use 100% cotton fabric and towelling at the bottom. For the underside, you can buy a cheap towel or hand cloth and can save money.

How can you sew a burp cloth pattern?

  • ½ yard quilting cotton

  • ½ yard flannel

  • Matching thread

You must begin by printing the pattern you need to sew. You can get it online. Print two pattern pieces and attach them with a tape. Pin the printed pattern to the fabric. Each bib requires one layer of cotton and one layer of flannel. Cut out the material in shape and collide both the pieces with the wrong sides together.

Now pin the edges of the baby burp cloth. Sew the front and the back together with a 3/8th inch seam allowance. Do backstitch when you begin and end.

When you are done with sewing the burp cloth, you will need to clip the fabric’s raw edge to help it fray. Cut all the way round through the burp cloth every ¼ inch. After that, throw the burp cloth into the dryer; it allows the edges to fluff up. And your burp cloth will be ready with the simple use of a burp cloth pattern.
