Are you looking for a low-cost vacation in Punta Cana? While it is possible to travel to the popular resort destination on a shoestring or even go backpacking in Punta Cana on a budget, it will take some effort and workarounds to seriously keep it cheap when travelling to Bavaro and beyond, which is rumoured to be the most expensive area in the Dominican Republic. However, even if you are on a tight budget, there are some ways to have a fantastic vacation without visiting an all-inclusive resort. Allow me to demonstrate a few tweaks and then read my comprehensive guide to backpacking this part of the Dominican Republic and travelling to Punta Cana on a budget. Plan Your Trip

Planning is essential when you are looking for a budget trip. Book your Spirit Airlines ticket Booking

in advance on the lowest fare dates. Punta Cana is designed for package tourists who arrive by plane, take the provided shuttles to their all-inclusive resort, and book a few excursions. As a result, the conditions for individual travellers may appear complicated at first glance, especially given that the internet is brimming with the best all-inclusive vacation tips.

You don't need to spend every penny but still want to visit Punta Cana on a budget. You can book a shared airport transfer. When you book ahead of time, they are already selling for as little as 5-8 USD per person and will get you to your destination much faster and more comfortably than public transportation. You will be met at the arrival area by a representative of the booked company and escorted to your shuttle. You may have to wait for other travellers to arrive. Always check Spirit Airlines Confirmation and other essential things.

Eating Options In Punta Cana

When visiting Punta Cana, you'll come across a plethora of upscale and highly recommended restaurants. However, most of them are pretty pricey compared to other areas of the Dominican Republic. A lunch or dinner plate at a typical restaurant will easily cost you USD 10 plus tip + drinks + appetisers, etc. That is, at least, what I do not consider budget travel in Latin America. However, if you know where to look, you can fill your stomach for a lot less money. In a "Comedor," Dominican eatery, you can find typical Dominican meals for around 3 USD. They are located throughout Bavaro and are usually open for lunch; a typical meal consists of rice, beans, salad, and meat for 150-200 DOP. There aren't always vegetarian options. If an extra $1 or $2 does not stretch your Punta Cana vacation budget. Spirit Airlines Booking also offers deals on booking, so have one more chance to save money here.

Where to Go

When visiting Punta Cana on a budget, you want to be able to move around. The most affordable option is to take public transportation, which costs around USD 1 for all trips within Bavaro, Verón, and Punta Cana. However, public transportation in Punta Cana is slow, especially given the lack of good connections. Sometimes it takes around 2 hours to travel 20 kilometres. Before using it, please read my comprehensive guide to public transportation in Punta Cana and make sure there is a connection to the location where you want to go. While not remarkably inexpensive, renting a car will save you a lot of time and make planning your trip much more straightforward especially if you want to explore Punta Cana's hidden gems and beyond.  Spirit Air Booking is the best way to start your journey to this beautiful destination on a budget.
