Bs 6 Yamaha Mt-15: All Things You Need To Know

Yamaha mainly premiered the latest MT15 bike yesterday at Fascino 125's launch event. The latest iteration of the naked streetfighter is expected to be launched in February next year and will become the fourth BS 6-compliant bike in Yamaha's portfolio, joining the likes of FZ, FZS, and R15 V3.0. 2020 Apart from an upgraded powertrain, the new Yamaha MT-15 also gets a new safety feature, minor cosmetic changes, and a new livery. However, the bike will also not receive very many mechanical or functional changes. While MT-15's India launch is also still a few months away, here's a lowdown on what we expect from the new MT-15.

BS 6 Yamaha MT-15: Design 

BS 6 Yamaha MT-15 will sport the same silhouette and front design, however, the company has made a small change to the tail light. Besides this, the company will always replace bias-ply tyres on the existing model with radial ones. However, the golden change for getting the new MT-15 by introducing the Ice Fluo-Vermillion colour scheme which has been available in various international markets. This paint scheme mainly contrasts white base colour with contrasting body graphics and orange alloy wheels.

BS 6 Yamaha MT-15: Features

A new model of Yamaha MT-15 will continue to make with a new fully-digital negative LCD instrument panel that offers readouts like speed, trip meter, ABS status, gear shift indicator tachometer, etc. The system is also not likely to be upgraded with Bluetooth connectivity or support for turn-by-turn navigation as the company would also prefer minimizing the price hike on the new model. In its new avatar, the bike always gets a side-stand engine cut-off switch which prevents the engine from turning on till the side-stand is not completely lifted.

 BS 6 Yamaha MT-15: Specs

A new model of Yamaha MT-15 will be powered with a combination of BS 6 iteration of the existing 155 cc engine. This type of system deliver 15 Nm and 19 bhp of peak torque on the new model of MT 15 but upgrading it to BS 6 state to bring down brake horsepower by a bhp or two. However, this model of powerplant will continue and be offered in combination with a super six-speed of a manual gearbox with Yamaha A&S (assist and slipper) clutch for smoother gearshifts.

BS 6 Yamaha MT-15: Suspension and braking hardware are there

Yamaha is likely to carry forward the existing model's cycle parts on the new MT-15. These models of the bike include a feature of telescopic forks with a 130 mm wheel travel, mono-shock with the swingarm, and 97 mm of wheel travel. The types of braking hardware will remain unchanged – with 282 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes with single-channel ABS.

BS 6 Yamaha MT-15: Price

Current-generation Yamaha MT 15 bs6 mainly gets a price tag of 1.36 lakh but the new model will definitely incur a price hike because of BS 6 powertrain and new colour scheme. So, 2020 new model of Yamaha MT-15's price could range between 1.45 lakh to 1.5 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
