by Abhinav G. Movie Enthusiast

Brushing long hair properly is another important aspect of hair care routine. We usually see women doing up their hair in their cars at signals or giving it a quick brush while driving, this has become the order of the day due to lack of time and too casual an attitude towards one’s hair. Brushing your right helps hair look soft and smooth, avoiding unnecessary breakage and tangles, using the right brush is key.

Few Tips

  • First things first, opt for a natural bristle brush with a wooden handle.
  • Bend forward letting your hair fall, start brushing from the nape of the neck and down to the hair until its ends, brush until there are no tangles. Now lift your head back to its position, putting the hair over your shoulders and back and stroke evenly with the brush again.
  • As you brush, smoothen with your hand along the length of the hair.
  • Do not brush hair when it is wet, hair breaks easily at this stage. Give a good comb once the hair is dry, removing tangles.
  • It is not necessary to keep combing and brushing often, important thing is to using the right brush and brushing properly.
  • Combs with natural bristles help remove the dirt on the scalp and evenly distributes natural oil secreted to the hair shaft making it look shiny and lustrous whereas normal brushes can only even out tangles and comb hair straight.
  • For long hair, use large toothed bristle brushes to smoothen out tangles.
  • Paddington brushes are ideal for short length hair and paddle brush for medium length.
  • For long hair, brush from the scalp to the ends of hair without tugging at hair to avoid damage.
