Before Peyton Manning got the 3 yards he needed Sunday to break the NFL’s all-time passing yardage record, he threw an interception. Then after he broke the record, he threw another pick. Marcel Goc JerseyAnd another. Manning, who was dealing with foot and rib injuries, added a fourth pick in the third quarter. And in the game Manning set one of the NFL's greatest records, he got benched for Brock Osweiler. The move came with 6:34 left in the third quarter and the Kansas City Chiefs leading 22-0. Kansas City would eventually win, 29-13. Manning's final line was an amazing 5-of-20 for 35 yards and four interceptions. Manning had a 0.0 rating. The worst rating of his career before Sunday was a 31.3 against the New York Jets in a 2003 wild-card game. This was the http://www.officialbluesteamshop.com/Womens_Youth_Patrik_Berglund_Jerseyworst game of Manning's career, and it isn't close. Since the start of Week 4, Manning has four touchdowns and 14 interceptions. You can argue he has been the NFL's worst regular starting quarterback this season. Willie Mays' fall in the outfield with the New York Mets was more graceful. "I thought I felt good enough to play. That's what I thought. Maybe that was a false feeling," Manning said, according to the Broncos' Twitter feed. "It's really disappointing. I put our team in bad positions all day." What will the Broncos do with Manning next week, and for the rest of the season? Broncos coach Gary Kubiak is in http://www.officialbluesteamshop.com/Womens_Youth_Paul_Stastny_Jerseyan impossible spot. Kubiak said after the game that Manning is still his quarterback, and he should have made the call Saturday to sit the banged-up Manning, according to USA Today's Lindsay Jones. That's all well and good, but the right move is to sit Manning for a while. He hasn't been effective enough to justify keeping his job. But can Kubiak do it, even if he thought it was best for the team? Manning is football Jari Kurri Jerseyroyalty, arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, and one of the few players who transcends the sport. Kubiak can’t tell him that he’s being yanked for a start or two or seven for Osweiler, can he? At this point, that's the Broncos' best move. There are folks who are more interested in the dumb belittling of Manning by using his playoff record than appreciating http://www.officialoilersteamshop.com/Womens_Youth_Jean-francois_Jacques_Jerseyhis career, but most sane NFL fans aren’t enjoying watching Manning go out like this. Not only does it seem like a given now that this is Manning's last season, there should be a question if he even finishes this one as the starter of a team that is probably still going to the playoffs. Manning has a foot injury, and an injury to his ribs. Maybe he needs some time to get healthy and can come back and play better in a little while. His 340-yard game against the Green Bay Packers a couple weeks ago brought some optimism. Maybe it was just that he didn’t feel comfortable in Kubiak’s offense and was finally turning the corner. And he made a couple big plays against the Indianapolis Colts last week. But Sunday’s game erased much of the optimism. He's a liability for the Broncos at the moment, and the only hope is that he can be better with some time off to get healthy. Not only was Manning not throwing it well, but he wasn’t making good decisions either. His interception into the middle went to Vernon Davis, who was tightly covered by two Chiefs. His third interception went right to linebacker Josh Mauga. Manning hasn’t thrown the ball great since his neck surgeries, but still put together an unbelievable second act of his career by knowing where to go with the ball and running the offense to perfection. That still shows up at times, but it’s mixed in with an unnerving amount of mistakes. When Manning badly underthrew a pass down the sideline that was picked off by Ron Parker, Kubiak finally had to get him out of the game. Most likely, Manning will get the start next week. The real question is if the Broncos would be better off if he didn't.
