Brides-to-be are being told not to panic buy after the sudden closure of a wedding dress shop in Gloucester.

Dozens of women have come forward worried that their big day is in jeopardy after Mystia Bridal Boutique in Gloucester went into liquidation last week.

But staff at Linda Gray Bridalwear say many dresses ordered through Mystia can be found and have been helping brides reunite with their gowns.

Business owner Linda said: "We have successfully managed to reconnect lots of brides with the dresses they have paid for.

"The dresses haven't been delivered to Mystia because the designers haven't been paid so they are sat in a box in a warehouse somewhere."

Linda said brides can contact the dress designer directly and the company will be able to send the dress to another local stockist.

"It is a big relief for these brides," said Linda.

"They have to pay for the dress again but if they signed up to the free insurance offered at the time of purchase they will get their money back.

"It is not all doom and gloom. There is some positive news from this mess."

A spokesman for Mystia said there "was no other option" but to wind up the company after "every last penny " was invested in the business.

Linda Gray Bridalwear, in Westgate Retail Park, has been offering advice to brides affected by Mystia's closure and has posted information on social networking site Facebook.

Linda said she has responded to more than 200 emails from worried brides.

"I am just trying to be positive and help these women," she said.

"Other shops are jumping on the bad news and telling brides to come to them to buy a new dress which isn't fair.

"There is no need to go out and panic buy when the original dress is ready and waiting.

"A lot of brides have no idea so when they come to me I am telling them to wait and breathe and that there are ways to get their dress back. No one will have to cancel their wedding day."

Linda said the closure of Mystia reinforces the importance of the Retail Bridalwear Associate's protection scheme.

"Mystia won't be the last store to go under, that's why I keep telling women to make sure they buy their dresses from a shop registered with the RBA," she said.Read more here:www.marieprom.co.uk/grey-silver-prom-dresses
