by Aaden Jones Aaden Jones

The Union Budget for 2018-19 proposes to handle school education holistically, from pre-nursery to Class 12. As a result, Samagra Shiksha scheme, a comprehensive program for the school education sector spanning pre-school to class 12, was created with the overarching goal of improving school effectiveness as measured by equal access to education and equitable learning outcomes. It combines the earlier Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education Schemes into one program (TE).

The system's'school' is envisioned as a continuum that includes pre-school, primary, upper primary, secondary, and senior secondary levels. The Samagra Shiksha scheme goal, according to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for Education, is to offer inclusive and equitable quality education from pre-school through senior secondary school.
