Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life of a Mechanic

by Roselands Auto Lakemba Mechanic

There are so many job choices that are available in life. Some of us are lucky, and know from an early age what we are going to do when we grow up. Or perhaps we have certain skills or aptitudes that propel us toward a certain job or profession. For others, learning what we love may come a little later in life, after we’ve had time to try a couple of different jobs to see which one is right for us.

Whatever our chosen profession and path in life, it’s important that we love or really like what we do. We’re going to work for forty plus years of our life, for forty or more hours a week, so you will enjoy life far more if you feel good about what you are doing each day. Ideally, the job will be challenging, because continual learning keeps work interesting and we get tremendous satisfaction when we master new things.

A Full Schedule of Service Tasks

If you are a good mechanic and you work for a top-notch, reputable shop that charges fair prices, every single work day is likely to be busy. Some shops have mechanics that specialise, and for instance might have a transmission mechanic. Other shops have all general service mechanics who work on any car and service task.

On a given day, you might perform factory-recommended service on some vehicles, do oil changes, rotate tires and diagnose issues signalled by some of the dashboard lights. A Kingsgrove mechanic is there to handle all of your automotive service needs.

Demonstrate Top-Notch Troubleshooting Skills

Although many tasks in an automotive centre can be routine for a highly experienced mechanic, they’ll also encounter big challenges during their day. When a customer brings in a car with an intermittent problem, all of their skills will be tested as they try to diagnose and identify exactly what is going on.

It takes years of experience and a good intuitive sense of how things work to successfully identify and fix what’s wrong. That’s one of the reasons people appreciate the knowledge and expertise of their Kingsgrove mechanic.

Going the Extra Mile for Customers

It’s pure heaven when you find a mechanic that really cares about how your car runs and goes the extra mile for their customers. When the best mechanics work on your car, they spend part of their day looking everything over and spotting potential issues that could be trouble down the road.

When they are able to find something before it develops into a bigger problem or needed repair, they feel great and it saves you lots of money.
