Hostage Rescue Maps

These are the original map types in CSGO since it is actually based on the two teams competing. The Hostage-Rescue situation is fashioned after the Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. Hostages are located near the Terrorist lair and the Counter-Terrorist must lead these people to a secure area. If the Counter-Terrorist successfully finished their objective within the time duration given to them, they win the round. In some cases, If one of the players on either team accidentally or intentionally kills a hostage, they lose or get evicted. Examples of hostage maps are Assault, Havana, Italy, Militia, Office, Siege, Agency, and Insertion.

Bomb Defuse Maps

Bomb Defuse or Defusal Maps are the most common and popular types in CSGO since it is based on a bomb planting and defusing situation. There are two bomb sites on the map. As expected, the Terrorists will plant C4 explosives at the bomb sites (A or B). Once the bomb has been planted, the Counter-Terrorists must locate and defuse it in 35-45 seconds, depending on the server. Examples of bomb-defusal maps are Dust, Dust 2, Inferno, Aztec, Airstrip, Nuke, Piranesi, Prodigy, Cbble, and Train.

Assassination Maps

Coming from the name itself, the maps are based on assassination. One member of the Counter-Terrorist team will act as the VIP and will be given a fully-loaded USP pistol and 100 additional armour points. His task is to survive the journey from a spawn-point to a rescue-point. The only existing assassination map is the Educat.

Escape Maps

These maps require the Terrorist to reach a map-specific exit point within the time given to them, while the Counter-Terrorist need to stop them. The most popular escape maps are Frantic, Jail, and Trinity.
