Barking Habits Of A Dog And Understanding The Reason
You would say, if
it is a dog, it would rather bark habitually. What new in that? Certainly true
in each and every respect! But do you know the reasons why your dog barks. No,
anger is not always the cause due to which dogs make noises. There could be
various reasons. Stay connects with us latest pet grooming tips!
And most
importantly, what do you do when your dog makes too much noise. Do you use a
cane to suppress its voice? Mind you, this could cost you and your dogs a great
deal.
Though a bit weird,
understanding the voice of your dog could be highly critical. A fact says that
dogs could make about 10 distinct kinds of noises and not all of these are
comprehensible to the humans. But you could surely understand the reason of
their bark and soothe them if the bark is inappropriate.
The major reasons
why dogs bark could be three:
For the attention: Similar to the other humans and pets, dogs
too seek attention of others. They would bark at the top of their voices and
this is to communicate that they require the consideration of their master.
While this is the
easiest one to suppress, your dog could get used to this habit and demand for
more. Therefore, if you learn that your dog habitually barks for attention, do
not care for it. Ignore it completely and turn a deaf ear towards it.
After a certain
time period (maybe a little long than you anticipate), your dog would get tired
and stop. Offer it consideration only when it ignores the idea of getting
attention through noise.
In excitement: Your dogs could turn too excited over
something and bark with their full might. This could be at the time of their
routine walk, their feeding time, exercise time or for a mere stroll with you.
Though these should
be remembered well by the master, excessive excitement barks are not always
welcomed. If your dog is regular in barking at certain times of the day,
completely ignore the sound.
Offer it the
required necessity such as food, water or stroll only when it has finished
barking. Make it learn that only its calm behavior has rewarded and not its
bark. Slowly and steadily, your pet would learn the habit and get used to it.
In alarm: You must be well acquainted with the fact that dogs have a better sense
of hearing than humans and they could hear the infrasonic sounds too. This
quality of theirs could trigger the barking process in them.
Dogs that are too
alert by nature or lesser socialized, could pick this habit and start yelling
at things which they find inquisitive. It could be a stranger in the house,
sound of certain electronic item or any kind of suspicious noise that could get
to its nerves.
To curb this, you
need to socialize your dog better and provide it some open space. It would only
get better when it gets used to the unexpected events or sounds.
At other times too,
you could startle your dog with a whistle or a sound so that it suppresses its
noise. You could also use dog-treats for grooming it with barks.
Most importantly
yelling at dogs is not a solution at all and you would rather not love to join
the dog in what you always abstain it from. Get your dog checked by vets
regularly and offer it better care for learning the improved habits.
