Avoid Common Mistakes When Using Red Cat Eye Contacts

by Steven Jones Owner
Decorative contact lenses such as red cat eye contacts or any other contact lens do not correct your vision; they just temporarily change the look of your eyes or make your eyes look like vampire or cat eye. They may seem harmless in terms of convenience and aesthetic purposes but just like corrective contact lenses you should never buy contact lenses from any street vendor or flea market. After all, your eyes are one of the most delicate parts of your body so avoid common mistakes when using red cat eye contacts or any other cosmetic contacts. By following the specific care and hygiene routines you can avoid any problem that may start with mild irritation and end with a vision-threatening condition:

Do not go for swimming while wearing your contacts

While swimming wearing your contact can irritate your eyes or it can lead to an eye infection which in turn develop the corneal ulcer. In one of the worst case, it can even cause blindness and require a corneal transplant.

Bacteria in swimming pool water, hot tubs, lakes, and the ocean can be the cause of eye infection, therefore it is recommended that remove your red cat eye contacts or any other cosmetic lens before taking a shower or going into swimming pool.

Do not make the practice of topping off your solution

Whenever you store your red cat eye contacts, spill out the remaining solution from the lens case and fill it with a fresh disinfecting solution; avoid the practice of topping off your solution. Even don’t forget to change the case after every three months at least.

Avoid sleeping in contact lens

When you do not take out your red cat eye contacts, the oxygen supply lessen in your eye, as a result, it can develop condition called “Corneal neovascularization” and another condition which can arise from the lack of oxygen is known as corneal micros cysts.

Sometimes, the biggest complication that comes out due to this habit is called a Corneal Ulcer, which is an eruption on the cornea caused by the infection and can lead to blindness. Vision change, eye redness, eye discomfort or pain, and unrestricted tearing are some of the symptoms of eye infection. Corneal Ulcer is considered the biggest complications, the patient can lose vision permanently and that scar could require a corneal transplant.

Avoid putting your red cat eye contacts in after wearing makeup

If you are getting ready for the party and wear eye makeup such as eyeliner, mascara, remember to put your lenses in, before applying makeup because there is a possibility of trapping makeup in your contacts.  Waterproof and oil-based makeup may bind itself to the lens and ultimately can cause blurring of vision so it is highly recommended that you should not wear that makeup.

Do not wear when you are suffering from cold or flu

If your immune system is weak and you are suffering from cold or flu do not wear red cat eye contacts. It applies to sicknesses that affect your eyes by causing puffiness or redness. You can avoid some of these risks by avoiding some of the above-mentioned mistakes and be sure to follow the cleaning, disinfecting and wearing red cat eye contacts.

Without taking eye doctor prescription, your red cat eye contacts may not fit properly or work well. Sometimes, they could even damage your eyes or cornea. Even, if you don’t have any problem, the lenses still could damage your eyes. So go for regular checkups and buy with a proper prescription that can reduce the chances of any damage to your eyes.
