To qualify for this program, the applicant should be skilled in an occupation that is in demand in Australia. With this visa, the successful applicant can get his or her permanent residency in Australia. His immediate family, which includes his or her spouse and children below the age of 18 years, also obtain the same VISA permit. The applicant can apply for jobs in Australia after relocating to the country.

This visa category requires the applicant to get the highest points possible. The points required for one to achieve this are declared every month. Here points matter a lot as the applicants do not have any sponsor or nomination from any source in Australia. Applicants get to live, work and study in any part of Australia.

The state Nomination Visa or Subclass 190 visa program requires the applicant to obtain state nomination. The skilled immigrants who intend to relocate to Australia on this visa program, do not need employer sponsorship. They will have to live and work in the state that provides nomination to the skilled professional. To obtain the nomination, the skilled professional’s occupation should be part of the State or Regional Skilled Occupation list. They have to commit to live in the state providing the nomination. It may not be mandatory, but it is good to have an employment offer from an employer in the state. This visa program is not too favored now as the employers too, are taking in more of the applicants who have relocated to Australia either on 189 or 491 sub class visa.

Skilled Work Regional Visa or Subclass 491 is a temporary visa which leads to Permanent residency in the country over a period of 3 years. This visa is renewable too. It is not employer sponsored visa program and hence it requires the applicant to commit to living and working in the regional area. The applicant should have their skills assessed for an occupation in the Regional Occupation List. The applicant should have a nomination from a state or a region to apply for this visa. The regional visa requires the applicant to earn high points.

All of the above programs are either Permanent Residency programs or that which lead to permanent residency. The programs offer the immigrants the access to medical care and free education to children.
