The Audi is the number one brand in the Indian luxury car market. The Audi R8 is one of the costly sports cars available in India. The Audi is competing directly with the German brands the BMW and the Mercedes Benz. The Audi India is assembling many cars in India. But the R8 is coming to India as CBUs.

Variants and prices

The Audi R8 comes in 5 petrol variants with 7- speed automatic transmission. The variants are the V8 Coupe, the 4.2 FSI Quattro, the V10 Spyder and the V10 Coupe and the V10 LMX priced Rupees 1.71, 1.71, 1.87, 2.2 and 2.9 crore respectively. The 4.2 FSI Quattro has 7 gear S-tronic transmission.

Sporty body

The R8 in coupe style has a very attractive body. The front fascia has Matrix head lights, a big air dam, single frame grille with Audi’s signature rings, daytime running LED lamps and a sporty hood with Audi badge. The twin sporty doors, alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, body coloured door handles, an air dam below the tail lights and four chrome lined exhaust pipes are the other body features.

Safe cabins

The spacious cabin of Audi R8 is loaded with lots of safety features. The standard safety features include 4 air bags, ABS, EBD, ESP, BA, Traction control, Hill Hold control, an engine immobiliser and collapsible column. The comfort features of the base variant include an Automatic AC, power steering, rain sensing wipers, frontal power windows, electric ORVMs, an electric sun roof, a retractable rear spoiler, parking assist with camera and a music system with GPS as option.

Performing Engines

The R8 V8 coupe is powered by a 4163 cc petrol engine giving mileages of 8.06 kmpl. The V10 variants have 5204 cc, 517 to 541 bhp and 530 to 540 NM torque 10 cylinder V engines giving mileages of 9.8 kmpl. The V10 variant takes 3.6 sec and the V8 variant 4.3 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration and the top speeds are 314 and 300 kmph respectively.

Ride and braking

The R8 has an adaptive damper suspension system where the damping force is adjusted as per the load on the wheel to make the ride comfortable. The wheels are R18 for the base and R19 for the top variants. The ventilated disc brakes along with the ABS and EBD make the braking very effective.
