High Passenger Numbers Upsets Asia’s Cargo Business

Cargo and Passengers

Since 2010 air cargo has made no significant increase nor has it regained its market. Remaining at a low the future of the cargo market is extremely uncertain.

On the other hand the growth in passengers is positive and has risen so significantly, it has exceeded 80% passenger load, the years highest at present.

The amount of people travelling for leisure, work or holiday season trips had reached 24.9 million by august which was around 7% increase. Not only that, but the revenue passenger demand grew by 8%. This meant that the expansion in seat capacity (5%) was no longer helpful.

Christmas season

Around the same august time air cargo remained weak, yet according to workers the air cargo market is not completely dull, stating that there has still been a 3% increase for the first half of the year or even more. Hope is also being placed on the Christmas season with shippers racing and relying on the Christmas orders to boost statistics. Operators and workers are convinced that the seasonal time of the year, mostly the last four months will be the best of the air cargo market and this is what they are depending on.

Overall over the last few years the passenger market has increased by 25% and the cargo market has decreased by 5% which all in all is quite worrying. Staying at the same flat rate would be more positive, but the actual decrease shows that the global demand for air cargo is decreasing.

Air Cargo

Air cargo has also been replaced to some extent by sea cargo which some buyers deem more suitable. The demand from buyers, western and others decreased significantly, making the air cargo business from Asia slow down. Asia’s air cargo being one of the strongest the decline has not caused unmanageable damage, however the future of air cargo does remain uncertain.

Representatives are also relying on the competitive rates of Asia’s air cargo. It is hoped that there will be an increase during the seasonal time and most buyers will be attracted by the rates that are not too high and are lower than certain other service providers.

Air Bridge Air Cargo

The air cargo has for sure been left way behind when it comes to the passenger travel market, which has shot up significantly over the years. It seems people are more willing to travel and it has become widespread across the globe, whereas air cargo is becoming less and less known or attractive to consumers.
