by Sara Floyd Hello

The US government is urging Americans in Ukraine to leave the country immediately, warning that Russia will step up efforts to launch attacks on civilian infrastructure and government facilities in the coming days.

To depart Ukraine now the US Embassy urges US citizens, if safe to do so, by using privately available ground transportation options” this has been said by a security alert on the embassy’s website. Throughout Ukraine the security situation is highly volatile and conditions can deteriorate without warning.

Moreover, the renewed US warning comes as Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine nears the six month mark and follows similar warnings from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other officials. They said that Moscow may launch intensive attacks, including rocket attacks, to commemorate Ukraine’s Independence Day Ukraine to collapse on Wednesday.

At the weekend in a video message Zelensky said that “We all must be aware that Russia this week could try to do something particularly ugly, or something particularly vicious”.

Between Monday and Thursday in Kyiv, the city’s military administration issued a ban on all large gatherings, by saying that “it is forbidden to hold mass events, peaceful meetings, rallies and other events relating to a large number of people.”

Head of Kyiv’s military administration, Gen. Mykola Zhyrnov, said the order was issued to allow security forces “to react in a timely manner to threats of rocket and bomb attacks by Russian Federation forces which includes defense industrial facilities, decision-making centres, military facilities, critical infrastructure and nearby areas or residential areas.”

On May 18, 2022, a woman walks her dog outside the US embassy in Kyiv. To “cease all military operations at or near Ukraine’s the official added nuclear facilities including Russia and to return full control of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant to Ukraine ”.

In Europe the largest nuclear complex, Kyiv and Moscow, about security and military action at and around the plant have made a barrage of accusations against each other. Since March the lack of independent access to the plant has been occupied by Russian forces, making it impossible to verify what is happening there.

Despite claims by Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Ukrainian military was conducting repeated military strikes at the plant, from Maxar Technologies of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant recent satellite images show no signs of “systemic shelling”.

With the death of Darya Dugina this week tensions in the war have spiked, a Russian political commentator and the daughter of prominent ultranationalist ideology Alexander Dugin. According to Russian state news agency TASS, Russia has blamed Ukrainian special services for her killing.

Apart from this, by a citizen of Ukraine, “The murder of journalist Darya Dugina has been solved, usually it was prepared by the Ukrainian special services, according to the TASS report, citing Russia’s Federal Security Service, which named a woman as the perpetrator and said that after the attack she had fled to Estonia.

By calling the FSB claims fiction, Ukraine has denied any involvement in Dugina’s killing. Dugina, the editor of a Russian disinformation website, died on Saturday night after a bomb planted in a car she was driving went off on the outskirts of Moscow.

Alexander Dugin, who is a Dugina’s father, is a prominent Russian nationalist credited with being the architect or “spiritual guide” of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
