Are You Fighting the War on Waste?by OC Junk Hauling Fast & Easy Junk Removal
Californians consume stuff like there’s no tomorrow – wasting food and putting on clothes one time and then tossing them off. At least that’s what you would believe if you look at average Californian consumer habits. While this is what’s wrong with the rest of the United States also, it’s much more pronounced in the Gold Rush State.
There is a myriad of industries damaging the natural beauty and serenity of California by generating an enormous amount of waste. Industries like:
Clothing and Textiles
Online shopping has paved the way for American fashion industry. You can order inexpensive clothing online and have it delivered to you the following day. This is both convenient and cost-effective. However, there’s a flip side to this online fashion trend. There are often less than safe work conditions in other underprivileged countries where laborers are waged very little and the clothing itself is, for the most part, made of synthetic fiber seeing as it can be produced on a massive scale at low costs. This inferior quality of clothes comes apart fast, making the clothes unfit to be sold or donated to a fund or charitable organization, so they wind up in the landfill where they don’t decompose efficiently, or at all.
Coffee has always been a huge part of the American way of life. The western coast is fond of coffee and that's not necessarily a bad thing. But there’s a downside to this as well, as this coffee culture mounts up to thousands upon thousands of coffee cups being tossed out daily – most of them practically impossible to recycle without professionalcompanies.
It’s right that there is nothing more American than a backyard barbeque, but how much is too much? Intensive meat farming ravages the land and long food miles for shipping and transportation, not to mention the amount of greenhouse emission it pumps into the atmosphere.
It can be unnerving to imagine what is being shipped away to landfills each day and what harm the California consumerism is doing to the beautiful state.
So what exactly can you, as a consumer, do in order to cut down the volume of waste generated? There are definitely some things you can do on your own like only buying clothing made from natural materials, using recyclable coffee cups and buying ethically sourced meat. When it comes to managing your household waste, though, it’d always make a stronger case to hire professionals. Utilizing the professional services ofwill result in a far superior waste management from your end.
