Are You Behind The Airplane Or In The Pilot Seat ?

Aviators say: "Don't get behind the airplane." Net-workers say: “Don’t get behind the curve.”

The pilot must be able to anticipate what is coming next in order to execute the maneuver correctly. When approaching the airport for a landing, the pilot must be on course several miles out in order to lock onto the instrument landing system. Engine speed, trim, flaps, and landing gear must be in place and carried out in a specific order to land without being able to see the runway until 1/2 mile out and 200' above the ground.

Your network marketing business is no different. You are piloting your business through uncertain conditions, pitfalls, and heavy competition. You must execute your actions correctly or else suffer the consequences. You must be able to comprehend where you are, how you are performing, and be certain that you are on the cutting edge of the network marketing system.

·         Decide on your destination. It is critical that you get to the correct airport for landing. If you are at the wrong airport, the radio frequencies don't work, the ILS won't work, and air traffic control becomes extremely unfriendly. You have to be at the correct destination. So, your first decision is: "Where am I going?"

·         Write down your checklist. The checklist must be in the order you want it executed. Once you have your list, do not change the list in any way. You are the pilot! The checklist is the list of items to do that work for you.

·         Anticipate the airplane. Stay ahead of your business. In aviation, usually 5 miles out, we have an outer marker we fly over. It is extremely important that we be on course and at the correct altitude in order to have a good landing. When we fly over the outer marker it sounds a tone in our headset. If we don’t hear the tone, we are alerted immediately that something is not correct. Learn to listen for the correct tones by listening to your customers and down line.

·         Keep the cockpit clean. It is absolutely necessary that the pilot keep his approach charts secured and easy to adjust or glance at. On approach to land, the pilot must devote 100% to landing. Now is not the time to be dialing frequencies, chatting with the co-pilot or adjusting your seat belt. In network marketing, have your web sites, scripts, and procedures set out before you.

·         Scan the instruments. While flying in the clouds, the pilot must not focus on one instrument, but rather continuously scan the instruments and deduce their meaning and make corrections as necessary. This is critical. When the pilot takes his eyes off the instruments he immediately veers off course. In your network marketing business keep your eyes on your goal. One day of not blogging, not answering emails, or not communicating with other social networking sites, will cost you dearly and let your business drift off course.

·         Just as a pilot has an outer marker, he also has an inner marker. This is usually the point where the pilot can look up and should see the runway. Back off the power and land smoothly. When your prospects call you to join, look up and bring that person into your networking business.  The hard work and training has brought you to your destination. All you need to do is show the new student how to do what you just did. The best way to do that is by example.

Flying an airplane is no harder than driving a car. It is crucial that a correct procedure be followed as crashing really sucks. J However, when I first started learning to fly I would just ride along on the controls with my instructor. After several months had gone by we had been performing take offs and landings.

I finally said, “Let me land by myself without any help from you.” He said, “You just did the last three landings by yourself.” He had trained me so well that I was doing all the right things automatically. He was waiting for me to say that so he could sign me off to solo.

Keep doing the right things, in the right order, and the Professional will take over automatically.
