Image Today, the market for smartphones has grown to an extremely large extent. The war of smartphones and operating systems today has boiled down to just two major rivals  - Google and Apple. On the face of things, both devices come with what modern smartphones essentially should carry – a mobile broadband, a splendid camera as well a fingerprint scanner on some of the higher models.  Since September 2015, the battle has become even more drawn, with Google introducing the new Nexus devices while iPhone introducing the Apple iPhone 6S.

With advanced software and hardware devices available for both platforms, it has now certainly become extremely confusing about which device to purchase. Both are  telecommunication devices primarily, and help you with your basic as well as advanced tasks such as Bluetooth, camera, GPS, file sharing and so on.  Nevertheless, choosing between an iPhone and Android can be really difficult even if you feel that one is right over the other.

The entire challenge boils down to which phone feels right in your hands. It is than innate 'inner' feeling that dictates more choices that others. There are features in both phones that rival the other. For example, you can do mobile payments with Apple Pay, Samsung Pay as well as with Google Wallet. For smartwatch connectivity, there is Apple Watch as well as Android Wear. For car infotainment, Apple has CarPlay, whereas there is Android Auto from Google. Hence, its much like buying a car, its what you feel better which is right for you.

Nevertheless, beneath the hood, there are some differences, which would take the eye of a technical specialist to point out:

Apple

When it comes to iOS, the app ecosystem with this OS is really massive. The majority of the apps are for both tablets as well as iOS smartphones, but there is a distinctive advantage for tablet apps on this system.  It is also possible for iOS users to post updates and share updates with Facebook as well as Twitter, since these apps are deeply integrated with the iOS platform. Because of the popularity of iOS, some apps developers have introduced iOS only apps, tht can run only on the iOS platform.

With iOS, it is not possible to customize beyond a certain extent as m\limited customization options are available for home screens. On this platform, no third-party apps are pre-installed. Hence, users can install app only from the App store.  What's more, Apple provides software upgrades to all devices that have the capability to handle the new software. This means that Apple devices can stay current with software features for at least a couple of years.  Finally, generally, iOS apps are capable of exercising greater control over the personal and private information, which includes private information such as contacts and location.

Android

When it comes to Android, there is a large number of Android devices that are available at various price points.  These devices have varying capabilities as well as screen sizes along with a range of features.  The user experience is also highly customizable with the help of widgets as well as app icons. Apple has a lot of restrictions about which apps it permits on its app stores, but Google has less stringent requirements. Several third party stores also allow uploading of third-party apps.

Conclusion:

Ultimately, it is the user who can really decide which platform (iOS or Google) he is comfortable with. Many upwardly mobile people have a preference for Apple's iOS whereas the masses seem to have a preference for Android. But, beyond that, it's the user who ultimately decides.
