Apple Updates Garageband and Releases Music Memos

Apple is staying true to its word of being the true all-in-one user-friendly system for everyone, including musicians and DJs. The company has released a major update to Garageband, and has released a new app called ‘Music Memo’.

Garageband, a free music-creation app, is updated to version 2.1 and includes many new features such as Live Loops. Live Loops allows anyone to tap columns and cells in the app to create beats, music and rhythms. Each cell represents a sample loop in a library provided by Apple in genres like Rock, Dubstep, EDM and Hip Hop.

These loops can be arranged in a timeline, performed, and remixed in a live setting. Live Loops also allows the creation of loops without any samples. The best part is that Garageband keeps the loops in perfect sync when talking about time and pitch.

Garageband also includes a new feature that has 9 acoustic virtual session and EDM drummers, each of whom provide a different sound. Also, a plethora of amplifiers and virtual bass players are included to assist in making original music. Garageband is available for iOS, including iPhones and iPads.

Music Memo, inspired by Voice Memos, adds many features tailored towards musicians to help in writing songs and developing ideas. A user can use the app to record any instrument through the built-in microphone and tag it, rate it, or simply add it to a custom library. The app analyzes chords and provides the notation of the chords played in the recording.

The Music Memos app also analyzes the beat and song rhythm. A user can add virtual drums and bass to the recording to act as an instant backing track to be played along with any song. Memos can also sync directly to iCloud to access through any Apple device, or be shared through email or Apple Music Connect (with their fans).

Music Memo is available for free on the App store for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and respective later models of each. Garageband 2.1 is available as a free upgrade for iOS 9 devices, and is bundled with iOS devices with 32GB storage or more.
