Apple to offer iPhones on online store
There is something rather comforting about buying an Apple
device from an Apple channel. So if any of you were visiting the company store,
sighing at the lack of mobile phones in its stock, despair no more. Apple has
now started to stock its online store’s inventory with refurbished iPhone
models, allowing people to get hold of an iPhone, without having to break bank.
In the past, Apple only offered other consumer electronics
products, like iPads, Macbooks, Apple TVs etcetera on its online channel.
However, the fact that consumers will now be able to buy an iPhone from an
official channel, one that gives them all the benefits that are part of the
official website purchase package.
Of course, this is bad news for your local smartphone reseller,
but not that bad. Because apparently,
there is still a major contrast in the prices of refurbished devices being sold
on Apple’s online store and those being sold at the reseller shop “around the
corner”. Obviously, prices aren’t as
low on the online store as they are at unnamed second hand retailers, who sell
other, non-Apple devices and products as well; like phone accessories, content
transfer app, content recovery solutions and repair services etcetera. These
second-hand retailers often offer iPhones at prices less than a $100, sometimes
even less. Another difference is the fact that the latest iPhone models are not
up for grabs. So if you’re hoping to knock off a few hundred dollars off an
iPhone 7 Plus, think again. The SE and 7 line is not being offered… at least
not at the moment.
Many experts like SmartIO have appreciated this step from Apple. The latest iPhone model available on the website is the 6S line,
with prices ranging from $449 for the 16GB model and $589 for the 64GB model.
This isn’t really that bad a deal, considering official prices for the brand
new ones 15% higher. So, are you interested? Is the price drop big enough for
you to want a new iPhone?
