If you’re an iPhone user, odds are that you have had an experience with Apple’s Genius Bar crew. However, things are going to change soon. Apparently, Apple has now come up with a way to troubleshoot your device faster than before… in a way.

According to 9to5Mac’s frequently-sited Mark Gurman, this week Apple intends to introduce a new repair program for the iPhone 6 and 6S. The program is going to be deployed in select Apple stores in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

So what exactly is the new repair program about? Well, in addition to repairing the broken iPhone, Apple will also be providing a temporary replacement while the damaged device is sent to the off-site repair center. So basically, if your device is unable to connect to iTunes or another computer, the Genius would make arrangements to have it shipped to the specialized center. In that duration, a replacement device, a 16GB iPhone 6 model, would be offered to you. What makes it quicker is the automated system that would inform the Apple Genius Bar employee whether the device can be fixed in store or if it has to be shipped off.

Seems like a good alternative, considering the user gets a functional phone as a lone, one he or she can use after restoring data from iPhone backup, until the damaged model is being fixed. Alternatively, you could use a content transfer app like SmartIO App and others for the purpose. This would move the problem-solving cycle faster, allowing the manpower to move on and devote time to other customers.

Of course, some might say that this alternative isn’t ideal, since it requires you to visit the store to pick up your device, it would have still been the case if the Geniuses spent a lot of time, only to tell you that they had to ship the device away. At least in this case, you’re getting a replacement device while you wait. Another issue that users could point out is the capacity of the replacement device. For instance, if the user has a 64GB or 128GB phone, they would have to make do with a 16GB device. Also, if they had a 6S, they’d have to make do with the simple iPhone 6, while foregoing the 6S features.
