The year 2020 is well underway and we are trying to keep pace with upcoming teasers and updates from Google. Until today, the next anticipated update from Google fraternity was the unveiling of its Android 11 operating system in March. And we were pretty much waiting for it in the coming month of March. Android 10 or Android Q also arrived last year on 13th March.

But what happened earlier today is that Google rolled out brief Android 11 updates on its Developer Preview page. And then it promptly reverted to its previous state. So, it seems to be a big slip-up on part of Google’s team. You won’t be able to catch up with the live updates of Android 11 now, but we surely have a screenshot of this very short-lived update. Here is what we witnessed earlier today:

Since, we haven’t found any official news about the Android 11 release date so far. We can only guess that it is afoot for the launch and we are not much far away from it.

Albeit accidently or whatsoever the reason could be, the developer preview portal uttered that You can “Try it today” and “Get Android 11” on your Pixel device through the Android Beta program, test apps, “review what’s new,” and more. Another point to be noted is that none of the external links were working on the preview page which confirms it to be someone’s blunder from the team. Yet, we cannot keep our eyes away from the fact that Android 11 is nearly approaching soon.

Fortunately, we have spotted some of the features from Android 11 that are listed below:

Expected Features from Android 11

  • RIP to the letter codenames i.e., OS traditional naming culture inspired from desserts. Android seems to be ditching this now. It released an OS with the moniker of Android Q or Android 10 last year. This could be rolled out with “Android R or Android 11”

  • Android 11 would come up with strong user privacy and security features. It will incorporate news features to engage users

  • It would include Vulcan features, support for 5G enabled devices and foldables

  • Whenever it would launch, it will readily be available on Pixel devices only

  • The Unicode Consortium announced that Android 11 will inhibit 62 new emoji and characters

Final Word

The whole incident that just occurred today could demonstrate that a rollout of the absolute first Developer Preview for Android 11 is up and coming. We have to wait and see how it all will unfold sooner or later. Google has backed off from the changes, apparently bringing down the Developer Preview site completely, keeping it to an Android 10 version. There is also another possibility that Google basically pushed an update to its site before it was prepared, and we won't get Developer Previews at any point in the near future.
