An introduction to Big Data
by Priyanka Thakur PHP |Web Design|Iphone|Android|DotThe big data starts with the 4 V’s – Volume, Variety, Velocity and Veracity. The first is the Volume which is obviously the base of Big Data, where the big stands for Big Volume. The volume here is measured in Zetabytes which is about a million Gigabytes data and it is also considered as the lowest estimate going to the future. One can add that Big Data is more about the big complexities more than the data. As the name itself suggests, Variety means the different types of works that can be done with the help of Big Data in a structured method.
Velocity means the rate of speed at which the data come in which helps companies and organizations make important and crucial decisions. Though Velocity is important but it is also an underrated aspect of Big Data. The Veracity or the 4th V in the Big Data is increases the trustworthiness of the subject.
Importance of Big Data-
I. Business Analytics: There is no use of having bulk number of data if it doesn’t come into use in the commercial perspective. It is useful to monitor all the data, information and records which are collected. It has become a business imperative in the modern age and gives enough edge over competitors.
II. Big science: This process helps in gene sequencing the programs and find out the results of the scientific experiments.
III. Big Government: The Big Data is also helpful in Governmental affairs. It arranges and stores all the information and the plans that the Government has for improving the economic and other aspects of the country.
The technologies -
* Map Reduce computation framework and Hadoop
* Distributed File System
* Distributed databases
* No SQL technologies
The Big Data training institute in Kolkata conducts courses by delving deeper into the subject so that students can get a very good knowledge on the same. The Map Reduce is based on the distributed computation framework and is published by Google. These are internally used for indexing the Search Engines and the results of the search engine. The Map Reduce framework is very scalable, fault-tolerant and capable of batch computation in parallel.
Functions of the Map Reduce framework-
The Map Reduce function is a primitive function. It consists of two functions operating on key-value pairs. It performs the filtering and sorting of the data and the reduce function takes the result out of the map function and performs summary operation on map step results. The advantage of this framework is that any computation can be designed in terms of these two functions.
The advantage of the Map Reduce is that any computation can be designed in terms of the two functions. There are software institutes that have also set up their Big Data training center in Kolkata to conduct the Big Data classes to impart more detailed knowledge on the subject. The input can be anything like texts, images, graphs etc. With Big Data analysis there is no restriction on the schemas or the formats.
About the author:
Written by Priyanka Thankur about the Big Data training .Ejob India is a name for Big Data training center in Kolkata that has not only provided me but also others to know about Big Data as a whole. With the clear cut training on its framework, functions and techniques I am able to analyze situations to a greater extent. Thank a lot to this awesome institute.
