Johnny Hates Jazz is one of the most popular British bands. This band presently comprises of Clark Datchler, who is a songwriter, keyboards and vocalist too, and Mike Nocito, a guitarist, bassist, producer and engineer. Established in the year 1986, the band was named after a friend who despised jazz. Their first single released was "Me and My Foolish Heart," on the RAK Records in 1986.
In the year 1987, this band was catapulted to fame with its first hit single "Shattered Dreams". This song was written by Clark Datchler, which later became a worldwide hit, even reaching the #5 position in the UK charts. It gained so much of popularity that the ‘Billboard magazine’, ranked it as the #26 song of the year 1988 in its December 31 issue. Following ‘Shattered Dreams’, the band gave several more international hits, including the anti-war anthem "I Don't Want to Be a Hero" and "Turn Back the Clock". The band's debut album, ‘Turn Back the Clock’ was released in January 1988, and reached #1 in the UK, going double platinum.
