An Insight in to the Audi A4 TDI Engine
by Diane McCarty Bench technicianIs The Six-Cylinder Diesel Version Any Good?
The cheapest six-cylinder diesel version of Audi’s
latest 3 Series rival is the 3.0 TDI 218.
It is a surprising pick of the new A4 range as it has proved itself an
extremely impressive executive saloon. It’s good to drive, with a classy interior
and exceptionally quiet. Find the best quality Audi A4 used

It’s already beaten competition from the Jaguar XE and recently refreshed BMW 3
Series.
The 3.0 TDI 218 model is the pick of the line-up
because just like the range topper it gets Audi’s smooth six-cylinder diesel
engine. It keeps the price reasonable and caps CO2 emissions at 109g/km which
is only a few grams more than the 2.0 190 Ultra pumps out.
When you buy any BMW, Jaguar or Mercedes executive saloon,
experts will tell you to stick with a four-cylinder diesel engine as you will
save lots of money. Audi’s MMI infotainment system comes as standard and
features a clear 7.0in display. The A4’s boot is larger than a Jaguar XE’s and
nearly the same as the 3 Series'. You can easily get a set of golf clubs or a
couple of big suitcases in the boot. However, being a saloon the boot is not up
to the mark.
This 3.0 TDI is the pick of the A4 range and it’s only
marginally less efficient than the 2.0 TDI 190 model and delivers the sort of
smooth performance and ultra - quiet driving that would shame some luxury
limos. It feels more like a baby A8 than a 3 Series rival. Check out Audi engines

Audi is famous for its classy interiors that are both
well laid out and made up of high-grade materials. The new A4 doesn’t
disappoint by following the same pattern and being better than rivals from BMW,
Jag and Merc. The luxurious materials are accompanied by a simple,
user-friendly dashboard layout.
