An evaluation on Del Sol Press
Del Sol Press seeks to publish exceptional work by both new and recognized writers, in addition to republish literary works we consider extremely significant which go from print. Our emphasis is on original, unique, and accessible work WITH AN EDGE, though our approach is eclectic. As a result, we eschew noncommunicative forms (language poetry rip-offs, Finnegan's Wake imitations, and so on) and genre fiction (unless exceptional).
This Del Sol Press contest is available to "all authors writing in English irrespective of nationality or residence, and is also accessible to published and unpublished authors alike." Genres contained in the competition are upmarket and literary fiction, mainstream or general fiction, mystery/thriller or speculative fiction having a literary edge, serious women's fiction, and different experimental work. Finalist manuscripts may also be considered for publication. The initial place winner gets a $1,500 honorarium and book publication by Del Sol Press in fall 2016 (plus 20 copies). third and Second place winners receive free tuition towards the Algonkian New York City Pitch Conference where they could pitch their novels to editors within the commercial publishing business.
