It is difficult to come across documentation of the health issues
that the American bully may suffer from if at all any. Perhaps because
the breed is still relatively new however some dogs have developed
elbow/hip dysplasia, congenital heart problem and hereditary cataracts.
The
American Staffordshire terrier and the American pitbull terrier tend to
have good health but the English bulldog is known to suffer from a
plethora of health problems. Also some American bully pitbull breeders
give steroids to their dogs in order to produce the large muscular body.
When these steroids are no longer administered the dog’s body shrinks
down to its normal size leaving the dog with a host of health problems
such as joint and organ problems.
However, because the American
bully has been indiscriminately bred by crossing in all sorts of breeds
(such as the English bull dog) primarily to enhance the exaggerated
look, it should not come as a surprise to find blood lines with serious
health issues.
