Amazon Wants People To Sign Up For Amazon Prime
Amazon wants more people to sign up for Amazon Prime; hence, it has doubled the amount of minimum price range to avail free delivery service.Amazon Inc. in Great Britain (GB) is the largest online retailer. The company has managed to make a great impact in the international market. Despite of not performing quite well in the domestic market, the online retailers is all set in Great Britain and is one of the most favored online marketplaces for many years. Previously, it was believed that customers had to order goods and products worth $15.28 (£10) in order at least to qualify for free shipping. Reports suggest that the company has doubled the amount of minimum order in order to avail free shipping service.
From $15.28 to $30.56 (£20), the company has raised the amount on all items and products except for books to avail free super saver delivery. However, if a book is included, the shoppers’ order must be placed in between a range of $15.28 and $30.56. Amazon is constantly encouraging its customers to opt and sign up for Amazon Prime, whose subscription cost is $106.83 (£79) for one year, which in return offers free and unlimited delivery for one day on various goods and items.
The company wrote on its website, “We continue to work hard every day to improve the delivery services that we offer. For example, we added over 10,000 new Amazon Pickup Locations last year to ensure that our customers could collect their deliveries at a time and place that suits them. Also, millions of Amazon customers have already chosen faster delivery by becoming Amazon Prime members.”
The policy will be effective from May 1. The company states that customers who have placed orders prior to this date and are waiting for delivery of their respective items will still qualify for free ‘Super Saver’ delivery only if they have selected that option.
The corporate giant wants to increase its customer database for Amazon Prime. However, Stephen Collins posted on his Facebook page that this move might cost the company big time. He says, “Can't help but think Amazon has shot itself in the foot on this, maybe both feet.” He feels that customers are not satisfied with the idea of Amazon Prime. He adds, “I think this price hike will likely drive customers to other online services with cheaper or free delivery. I know I for one will think twice at using them for low price items.”
This is most likely to happen, as people might opt for better and cheaper alternatives now, domestically or internationally.
