Google is no more the preferred choice for product searches.

Yes, Google; a search engine, is not the top preference of the buyers to search for any product.

But if you know about the consumer survey by Survata, you already know that. In the year 2015, they found out that 44% of the browsers start the product search on Amazon while 34% use the search engine. In the year 2013, the results were like this; 30% people used Amazon to start a product search and 13% were using Google for this purpose.

This year, PowerReviews conducted a survey of 1,000 US consumers and the results were no different. Amazon is the starting point of search for 38% of buyers. Google could get the votes of only 35% of the searchers. 21% of them also mentioned that they go directly to the brand site to buy the products. The rest of the 6% people named other e-commerce marketplaces as the origin of their product search.

Well, there is no doubt to the fact that we are accustomed to searching on Amazon, they have a huge catalog and you can find most of the things that you search here.

Let us see what is the place of Amazon in our lives or at least in our e-commerce searches and purchases that it is preferred for searching too.

#1. Products are here so the search starts here

Amazon has a great variety of products. It has something for everybody. You can find the clothes for a newborn baby, the health care equipment, kitchen appliances, gardening tools and what not. 79% people search on Amazon because of the variety of products. All the products are categorized so well that it is super easy to find them. Even when you are not browsing by the category, the search results are just too good. Amazon shows the relevant results so we search here to save time. SEO South Africa says that 54% people surveyed find Amazon search capability to be top-notch.

#2. The Amazon reviews are considered seriously

54% people like Amazon because of the helpful user reviews. The Amazon reviews are trusted more than reviews on other shopping portals. The buyers put honest reviews on it and for most of the products, you can know everything before buying it. The reviews save you from a bad decision and helps to invest in the right product. Amazon also checks the quality of the reviews and we read in the news some time back that Amazon is suing the retailers who are posting the fake reviews for their products. So, because we trust the verdict of the fellow shoppers, we search here.

#3. The search of most of the people ends here because they trust

As we trust Amazon service and the reviews, we end up shopping here too. The ‘fulfilled’ tag brings a positivity in the mind and you instantly think that even if the product does not work, you can always return it hassle free. You also think that you will find the similar results on the other sites too, so it is better to buy from Amazon because the products are a 100% genuine.

#4. Ease, facility, quick delivery, affordable prices and great customer care

64% people like the free shipping and 60% people are affected by the better prices at Amazon. These two reasons also made people search at the Amazon the first place. 29% also loved the Amazon app and they think that the mobile experience is too good. According to the SEO South Africa, Amazon is one e-commerce portal that is doing great at targeting the audience and converting them. They also know their design.

#5. Subscribe and save for returning customers

One more reason to search and shop on Amazon is the customer value program. You do not have to search a product again and again. The product that you need every month can be subscribed and they will reach to you like a clockwork. Buying the essential products has become so easy. It is better to search here and subscribe to get an uninterrupted supply.

Why would we not search here when it is so convenient and useful? No doubt Amazon is more popular than Google when it comes to product search. One more thing to notice here is, among the 35% people who search for a product on Google, 41% click on the Amazon link ultimately.
