Amazon Experiences Historic Sales During Peak Times

by MarkJ Guillen CEO
The festive season turned out to be glorious for Amazon in terms of sales.

In a comparison to the previous years, the sales during Cyber Monday have increased by 12% and have now risen to $3 billion. It has been reported by Adobe, that this years is considered to be immensely successful in terms of online shopping in the United States.

The online sales have gone up by 15% reaching to $11 billion in just five days. Most of the sales were of the smartphones sold. MasterCard was extr4emely content since it beat its own estimates observing an 8% increase that symbolized a double-digit growth in terms of e-commerce sales over the weekend. According to the company, the spending during this season was tremendous and fast, an increase in demand for warm clothing was observed during the sales. However, the departmental brick and mortar stores did not see any significant improvement.

With the rampant popularity of the online shopping trend amongst consumers, there is an urge amongst buyers for a quicker response. Amazon unveiled its promotions for Black Friday on Nov. 2, 2015. The company at that time strategically saved its inventory and chalked out deals for Cyber Monday, so that they can extract the best of this season.

The Amazon sales went up by 22.4% from morning till noon on Monday as reported by the Channel Advisor. So it won’t come as a surprise if the company succeeds in sabotaging its rivals in terms of online sales.

Retailers are expected to benefit from the double digit sales, who were offering their deals at a time where other had not even thought of reacted. Most of the retail giants like Best Buy Co., Target, and Wal-Mart did not even reveal their deals till early November that could push sales for them. They revealed online promotions only a few hours before the event.

Cyber Monday over the passage of time might lose its charm since promotions are actually spread over several weeks considering this year. Tamara Gaffney- an analyst at Adobe stated, "The early bird gets the worm. That's part of the reason we think Cyber Monday won't continue to be the biggest online day going forward in a couple of years."

As per the Adobe Digital Index, the most important issue that was dealt by the retailers was the stocking out of goods on the sale day. Issues related to improper inventory management aroused due to the shortage of products. Gaffney further stated, "Consumers are hyped for Cyber Monday, with social buzz more positive than what we saw on Black Friday, but they need to brace themselves for the highest out-of-stock rates of the season so far."
