Restless leg syndrome is sort of influencing factor for nightly rest, which makes a person feeling great difficulty to fall asleep. The condition does not have any specific age to afflict individuals. People belonging different age group can experience the problem. However, the problem is not that much serious. What does restless leg syndrome mean?

If you have ever experienced unpleasing tingling, itching sensation or aching in legs, you might have suffered from RLS. It can bother by an overwhelming urge to move the legs when lie down in the bed. RLS is actually a neurological syndrome and simply understood with this- you get into the bed, put your body on relax mode and try to fall asleep, suddenly an unpleasing aching starts bothering you and create difficulty to take proper rest during the night. You try to avoid the condition and try to sleep again, but it does not happen. You get out of the bed thinking that stretching can relieve this pain and it works. Unfortunately, when you lie down and you again experience the same problem. This is how the problem gets you tossing and turning throughout the night.

Some causes responsible for RLS:

It is believed that RLS is genetic in 60 percent of people suffering from it. Besides this, anyone can have this problem after crossing a certain figure of age. Usually the condition is reported form elderly people and women. Therefore it is also an aging effect. Surprisingly, 40% women have RLS when they are pregnant or have delivered a baby recently.

Health conditions like- high blood sugar level, kidney failure, iron deficiency, and athirst can cause the problem to fall or stay asleep during the night. Sometimes, the problems related to blood circulation can contribute to the leg aching. Scientifically, the condition occurs when dopamine chemical gets imbalanced in transmission into the brain.

Prevention of RLS with effective and simple methods:

Sleep is the key of quality of life. Missing this quality-activity can lead to several problem. Managing RLS is a matter of concern; otherwise it can turn as insomnia for which sleeping tablets are considered to be the last resort. Cheap Sleeping pills are good enough, but ‘precaution is better than cure’. Here are a few simple to overcome RLS-

·         Try practicing relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation

·         If you are overweight, dropping the pounds can help you overcoming the problem

·         Try eliminating the consumption of caffeine if it goes excessive

·         Try wearing compression socks and wrap the legs with the bandages

·         Try to sleep with a pillow between your legs

If the problem does not get under control and you constantly have wakeful nights, your physician may recommend you for sleeping pills, a modern way to eliminate RLS.
