All you need to know about Steel Casing Pipe

by John Smith Learner

Steel encasement pipes are generally used to protect underground utility lines from damage done due to natural causes or any form of human intervention. The main application of steel casing is to protect water mains, gas pipelines, power cables, fiber optics, and other such things from nature and human damage.

They are of great help when any pipelines or electric line is to be laid under highways or railways or underwater in rivers, lakes, etc. Steel encasement pipes are strong and can withstand a significant amount of pressure before giving up. They are manufactured by casing pipes manufacturers

and thus they become a priority for such projects.

Applications of Steel Encasement Pipe

Steel encasement pipes are used in various projects such as -

  • Auger Bore Casing - Auger bore casing, which is also referred to as horizontal auger boring, is one of the many methods of drilling in which steel casing pipe is simultaneously pushed from a drive shaft under the roadways or railings. In contrast, a rotating flight auger removes the earth through the casing pipe.

  • Pipe Ramming – Pipe ramming, which is also known as pipe jacking, is a method for the installation of the steel pipes and castings. The usual distance is 30 m or more with a diameter of 1500 mm, although it can be used for further longer installations. This is generally used you der railway lines and highways.

  • Road Bore Casing – in simple words, is the steel pipes casing used you der the highways and road instead of railway lines.

These were some of the applications of the steel encasement pipes. These steel encasement pipes are also used in the drainage system that runs underground as these casings have the coating of rust repellent so that they can be used underground. In the harsh conditions, they can withstand the damage done by nature or human intervention.
