All Information About IIST 2016
IIST or Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology is a self-deemed University and an independent body under the Department of Space (DOS). This University was founded in the year 2007 and functions from the 100 acre campus which is situated in Valiamala, about 20 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. As per the official notification of IIST 2016, a wide range of academic courses such as B.Tech., M.Tech./M.S., post-doctoral and doctoral programmes in the areas that are related to Avionics, Engineering, Aerospace, Chemistry, Earth System Sciences, Humanities, Physics etc. To know deeply regarding the IIST 2016 admission, application and admission procedure, eligibility criteria, rank list, counseling and many other related topics, read ahead.
IIST 2016: Admission Procedure:
The admission to IIST 2016 is done through the JEE Advanced ranks. No such entrance examination is conducted by IIST. Til the year 2015, AIR ranks of JEE main were considered for the preparation of IIST Rank list and the JEE advanced scores were used to check the eligibility criteria of the candidate.
The online registration for IIST 2016 will commence in the second week of June 2016 and the last date to register online is the third week of June 2016. The fee can be submitted till the last week of June 2016. The JEE Main 2016 will be conducted in the month of April 2016 while the JEE Advanced 2016 will be held in the month of May 2016.
IIST Eligibility Criteria 2016
1. Only Indian citizens will be allowed to take admission into undergraduate courses in IIST.
2. The general and OBC category candidates should have born on or after 1 October 1991. Other candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, PWD category, they are provided with a relaxation of 05 years.
3. Unreserved category candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with at least 70% of marks while the reserved category candidates need to pass the same exam with 60% marks.
IIST 2016 Application process:
The application form for IIST 2016 will be made available in the month of June 2016 on the official web portal. The fee that has to be submitted is Rs. 300 for female and reserved category candidates while 600, for Male General and OBC category candidates.
NRI candidates too have to fill the form online and the payment of fee has to be done via DD which should be sent at the following address:

IIST 2016 Admission Rank List:
Post releasing the IIST 2016 rank list, only those candidates who will qualify the JEE Advanced will be considered for admission as they will surpass the IIST cut off. Further, the rank of these will be done on the basis of JEE Main 2016 rank.
IIST B.Tech 2016: Courses and Number of Seats and Reservation
The courses offered and the availability of seats is as follows:
1. B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering has 60 Seats
2. Dual Degree (B.Tech. and M.S./M.Tech) has 20 Seats.
3. B.Tech. in Avionics Engineering has 60 Seats

The counseling schedule for IIST will be released in the month of March 2016 while the counseling will commence in the month of July 2016. Valid IIST rank holders need to register online so as to apply for IIST 2016 counseling. The candidates would be able to download the counseling admit card from the month of July 2016, on the official website.
