Akshay Kumar Reacts to National Film Award Controversy
After Akshay Kumar was announced as the recipient of the 64th National Film Award for his performance in “Rustom”, many thought that the actor received the award because of his close friendship with filmmaker Priyadarshan who was part of the jury.
Akshay responded to the allegations in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he said “I have completed 25 years in the film industry and I've never called in a favour to bag a movie or an award. Gossips of Bollywood Actress, As for Priyan favouring me, I think he has answered that question in your newspaper.” Adding to this Priyadarshan said “Akshay Kumar deserved the award and we gave it to him. There were a total of 38 jury members with me on this. How can you question the decision of so many people? Ramesh Sippy headed the jury last year. When he gave Best Actor to Amitabh Bachchan for Piku why didn't anyone question him?”.
On the work front, Akshay is currently shooting for “Padman”, which stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor and he will also be seen in “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha “ which is slated to release on 11th August 2017.
