Million individuals currently programs to reduce body weight involved. With the huge amount of inadequate programs of such nature and a great ignorance on the part of many on this subject, it is necessary to establish guidelines for appropriate programs for weight reduction.
Based on the available scientific evidence on the effects of weight loss on health status, physiological processes involved and the parameters of body composition, the American College of Sports Medicine makes the following statements and recommendations for weight reduction programs.
