The special effect contact lenses are
also termed as theatrical, novelty or costume lenses. These contact lenses can
effectively change the color and design of your eyes by covering the eyes iris.
These lenses have high coloration and give a totally different look to your
eyes. They are the colored contacts that can change your eye color completely
or give a more intense look to your eyes. Some of the examples of this type of
lenses are cat eye contact lenses, vampire lenses, zombie contact lenses, avatar contacts etc. Even if you have
perfect eye vision, you need a prescription to wear these contacts also. Mostly,
the special effect contact lenses these days are the soft contact lenses. These
lenses are made from gel-like, soft and flexible plastics known as hydrogels.
They allow oxygen to pass through the eyes as they are very thin and easily
adapt to the front surface of the eye.
They can completely change the look of
your eyes but contact lenses are something that needs to be considered
carefully. Contact lenses are advertised and sold so commonly that they don’t
even seem like medical devices. Not only the regular contact lenses but even
the special effect contact lenses must be the regulated and prescribed ones as
they physically touch your eyes and the improper usage can lead to serious
consequences.
Visit an eye doctor to get your eyes
examined. Get the proper fitting for the contact lenses. You might feel a
little discomfort while putting them in the beginning but it would go away soon
once they fit your eyes correctly. Your eyes will certainly take some time in
getting used to wearing them but be sure to follow all the wearing and cleaning
instructions.
The method of cleaning, disinfecting
and storing the contact lenses is not much time taking. Most of the contact lens wearer needs only a
multipurpose solution to clean and disinfect and store the lens properly dipped
in that solution. Some individuals are sensitive to the preservatives present
in the multipurpose solution and need preservative free solutions containing
hydrogen peroxide. These special effect contact lenses come with a daily,
monthly or the yearly expiry dates. They can be used accordingly but if they
get damaged or dirty, throw them away as they can cause harm to your eyes.
