Whether it’s for a birthday party or a Saturday afternoon, if you’ve got some high energy kids, here are some fun ways to keep them entertained.

Inside

Perhaps the hardest, but not impossible, category is engaging high energy individuals indoors. Whether you live in an apartment, town home, or house, there are several ways you can keep kiddos entertained and help them expend their energy in an appropriate way.

One idea is to have activities planned out for them to do. This could be a science day, a craft day, or a thinking day. Create a scavenger hunt that takes them through the house, try a messy and fun science experiment, or set up an obstacle course of pillows, foam noodles, and stuffed animals in the living room. Host a talent show where they can let their special skills shine, or have a dance party and rock out to their favorite tunes. Play spy and solve a mystery, create your own secret code, or write a play and perform it for others that night. With a little creativity, the possibilities for activities inside is endless.

Outside

If the weather is nice it can be a good idea to get outside. This way they have more room to run and you can ensure the safety of breakables in the house. You could play yard games, have a water balloon or squirt gun fight, or play on the equipment at a local park. You could host a makeshift Olympic games or ninja warrior competition in the backyard, or invest in a trampoline which is a great way to expend energy without taking up a lot of space. Go to the pool, throw stones in a lake, take them fishing, or go on a photo hunting journey.

Ask your kids what they want to do outside. Would they enjoy a nature stroll? A mud bath? A cotton ball catapult? They may already have some fun ideas on how to spend the day, and you can join in on the fun.

Field Trip

There is always the option to take them somewhere fun, like arcades in Huntsville, AL, or laser tag. You could take them to a bouncy house palace, an indoor jungle gym or play place, or ball pit. You could visit a kids’ museum, zoo, or amusement park. Having the kids be able to run around and play while you get to observe or even sit down and relax for a bit can be a win-win for both of you.

Whether you round up the little ones and take them to arcades in Huntsville, AL, or use items found in your house for indoor activities, there are many ways you can keep your high energy kids entertained.
