A Step by Step Guide to PCB Manufacturing Process in 2021

by Darrin Hein Marketing
PCB Manufacturing Process involves a series of highly technical steps under controlled conditions, using a wide range of tools and computers.
PCB has a huge demand in the industry. Whether you need to build medical equipment or want to manufacture automotive components or even electronics goods, you require PCB for the circuits. It is useful to know the manufacturing process of PCB before you hire a service provider.
Step 1: Design
The first step of  PCB Manufacturing Service centres on its design. The design needs to be approved by the concerned authorities before the onset of the next processing stage. It is changed accordingly if there are valid recommendations.
Step 2: Transforming files to films
The next step in prototype PCB assembly Manufacturing Service involves transforming the PCB files into distinctive films with the help of an exclusive laser printer known as the plotter. The final output is a PCB photo negative. All films are punched to create registration holes.
Step 3: Printing inner layers
The laminate is created from the films to determine the copper path. The particular procedure of PCB Manufacturing Service is carefully conducted by not letting any dust particles settle on the surface of the laminate. The copper has whittled away, revealing the design from PCB films.
Step 4: Removing unwanted copper
A strong chemical is used to remove the unwanted copper from the PCB board. After the removal process, the board is thoroughly washed with a suitable solvent. Requisite copper substrate needed for PCB manufacturing is left on the surface.
Step 5: Accurate Layer Alignment
A machine known as the Optical Punch is used by an expert to finely layer the alignments, with the registration holes correctly placed. When there is any inconsistency, it is displayed on a screen.
Step 6: Process of layer-up plus bonding
It is the stage where the circuit board gets its shape. The layers are fused, where the outer layers join the copper substrate. An advanced machine called the bonding press computer efficiently controls the process of heating the stack and modulating its structure under regulated conditions.
Step 7: Drilling process
As you can guess, the stack board gets its holes in this manufacturing stage. A computer specifically controls the drill’s micro-movement.
Step 8: Plating plus Copper Deposition
The panel undergoes the process of plating. Various layers are fused with chemical deposition. After that, the product undergoes several chemical baths.
Step 9: Process of Outer Layer Imaging
The procedure of applying a photoresist to the panel is repeated. UV light is used to harden the photoresist to a desired level.
Step 10: Plating
The procedure of copper electroplating is conducted in this stage. Initially, a copper plating bath is conducted. After that, the panel is covered with tin plating.
Step 11: Procedure of Final Etching
The tin layer protects the copper underneath. The conducting areas are well-defined in this stage of final etchings. Connections are established, too.
Step 12: Application of Solder Mask
Panels are thoroughly cleaned. After that, an epoxy ink of solder mask is technically applied to the PCB product.
Step 13: The Surface Finish
The PCB product requires some additional soldering capabilities. The surface is thinly plated with gold/silver.
Step 14: The Silkscreen
The surface of the almost completed PCB board receives thorough ink-jet writing. It indicates crucial information related to the board.
Step 15: The Electrical Test
Electrical tests are conducted on the PCB product, to ensure its functional capabilities and the potential of its design.
Step 16: Detailed Profiling plus V-Scoring
In this stage, the original PCB panel is cut into different boards. The V-groove cuts exclusively take out diagonal channels from the board.
Hire a top-rated manufacturer
When you require a supply of PCB products for your factory unit, hire a renowned manufacturer from the industry.
