A New Must-Read Book The Art of Social Media A Must Have Book For All Online Marketers
I was just listening to an audio podcast from The Weird Entrepreneurs with Anna Zubarev this excellent podcast you will find HERE She talks about two books she, as a very successful online marketer, would recommend to the listeners and here of course to my readers She talks about "The Art Of Social Media" from Guy Kawasakiand Peg Fitzpatrick .

Anna Zubarev is a well known social media expert and she talks about how she got started in the online marketing business and how she became successful together with her husband Alex.

A Must Read Book for all serious online marketers and offline marketers and serious entrepreneurs
Here is what other experts have to say about the art of social media
I must say, Guy never lets me down. I've bought everything he has written and there is such an "it's-easy to-do-it-but-you've-got-to-move-and-get-it-done" approach in all of his books (remember "What the Plus"?) that I was expecting nothing less than a step-by-step, process-savvy and tactical/ practical guide to the social media, and that's exactly what this book was about. There is also a lot of Guy's dry humour everywhere in the book, so even if he means it to be a very methodical book about how to use the social media to further your business, he does not get all officious about it.

Page 54 of the printed book is my most well-thumbed page. That's the place where he gives a table of how often you have to ideally make postings to all of the social sites, and I must say I was a bit gobsmacked at first seeing that one has to put such truckloads of variegated content into the mouth of the "social monster" to get anywhere near rocking status with it. But then if you go and see Guy's Google Plus page and see the number of followers there (6.5 million) you just pipe down to do what it takes to get there - armed with Guy's confidence that he breathes throughout the book that high rewards await the smart and the diligent.

Nowhere in the book is there one extra word of pfaff, flab or hyperbole. Nowhere are there any tall promises, wild claims or a glimmer of condescension to the less-lucky socially-floundering people. Every piece of advice is not just eminently do-able, it's also backed by a solid sense of strategy ... and it all comes from the heart of one who is still humbly learning and is sharing without reserve. More than anything else, it's the attitude of giving in the book that gets you. The book also doesn't pull any punches. When needed it's a hard taskmaster and admonishes you to serve the social networks rather than try to master them or feel as if you have to "conquer" them.

I could sense Guy's overt presence throughout the book as he has written it ... and I could also feel the covert presence of Peg everywhere, simply because so much common sense couldn't have been put into a book without the inputs of an uncommon woman like her (I'm not saying that because I'm a woman, but if you've seen her blog and read her posts, you'll see what I mean!).

There is a tinge of philosophy in the book as well that resonates with me. It's there in the quotations that Guy has picked up to start each chapter with, and I particularly loved the very first one above the Table of Contents that says upfront "The quality of advice anybody has to offer has to be judged against the quality of life they lead." How true of Peg and Guy!

Then there is the no-holds barred perspective in the chapter "How To Get More Followers" where Guy writes "There are only two kinds of people on social media: those who want more followers and those who are lying". And then again, there is this whole chapter on "How To Avoid Looking Clueless" which is the most important advice I have ever read about the right mind-set and etiquette to have for participation on social media.

One other chapter that had a lot of meaning for me personally was "How To Integrate Social Media and Blogging"... because people who are already well into the blogging space (like me!) hate to be now told "Blogging is now out, social media is in!" Thanks Guy, for saving the gazillion words I've already written on my blog and for saying I can keep adding to that so long as I am able to judiciously "curate" my own work along with that of others!

All in all, folks, this is a very constructive, functional, nuts-and-bolts book about things to put on your "To Do" list if you want to be a star on social media. But most inspiring of all is that it's written by a couple of stars who have already put that much work into it all and seen what works and what doesn't - and are throwing a trail of breadcrumbs for others to follow. Thanks Guy and Peg for the book, for the spirit with which it has been written and for the sense of excitement you have created in me that I too can do it with the right tools, and the right attitude.

What's the next book about, Guy, and when's it due?

I could not wrote this better!
So if you are serious about social media this is the must have book the art of social media is the bible for all serious online and offline marketers and entrepreneurs,
