A Look Into the Prevalent Californian Vaping Laws

by Andrew M. Vape Blogger

Vaping refers to the technique of vaporizing and inhaling aerosol using an electronic device called an e-cigarette. Most e-juices contain nicotine and flavoring. More than eight million Americans were vapers in 2018, and the number has only increased in these years. The growing number of vape stores near my location stands to prove it.

What are the Californian E-Cigarette Laws?

California has been home to some of the most well-known vaping and e-cigarette companies, including RipeVapes. State politicians, on the other hand, did not let this deter them from enforcing anti-e-cigarette legislation. California has become the second state in the United States to enact a slew of regulations and restrictions aimed at discouraging the sale and use of electronic cigarettes.

Requirements for registering vape products. California recently passed a new law requiring vape items to be inspected and registered before they can be sold. Vendors will have to pay additional fees to keep their e-cigarette and vape stores running.

Vaping is prohibited on school grounds. Vaping or using a piece of e-cigarette equipment is prohibited on school grounds, as well as in workplaces and public places. The prohibition includes bars, warehouses, and hotel lobbies. So, vape stores near my location do not sell to minors.

E-cigarettes are officially considered tobacco products. New legislation signed by Gov. Jerry Brown categorizes vaping and e-cigarette goods as part of the tobacco industry. As a result, e-cigarettes are now subject to the same state tax rules that apply to cigarettes.

The smoking age in California has been raised to 21 years old. Customers in California who want to buy tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and vapes, must be at least 21 years old, with a special exception for active military personnel.

Which US states banned vaping products?

Even though California's new vaping regulations make significant adjustments, several states have gone even further in prohibiting e-cigarettes. With an immediate ban on all flavored vaping products other than tobacco, Michigan became the first state to restrict e-cigarette sales. However, when merchants brought their case to court, the ban was overturned.

After that, New York became the first state to pass legislation prohibiting the sale of flavored vaping goods. Massachusetts responded with an even tougher restriction, imposing a four-month moratorium on all marijuana and tobacco vaping product sales, regardless of taste. The states of Rhode Island, Montana, Washington, and Oregon were the next to impose temporary bans on e-cigarettes.

While many restrictions prevail, vape stores near my location continue to sell products as manufacturers work hard to improve their offerings.
