A journey to Delhi

How can anyone describe Delhi, the 5000 year capital of largest democracy of the country? Some call it the city of the extremes, from clean areas to congested ones, open roads to choking traffic. Whatever may be the scenario, Delhi is known as the city of the people, which means that it belongs to the hard hearted people. The city is also one of the most historical capitals of the world and has rich and numerous tourist sites.  This place is known for the humid climate and the chilly temperatures. So kids winter jackets online is a must, which ensures that the little ones are covered in the best possible form. The city can be divided into New Delhi and Old Delhi. The former represents the history of India with forts, mosques and other monuments. New Delhi is the place for government buildings and embassies.

Some places to visit in Delhi: These places are known as the pride of India

India Gate- Indian Gate was build to honor Indian soldiers, who sacrificed their lives during the World War I and the Afghan wars. It is situated along Raj Path.

Rashtrpathi Bhavan

It is the place for the President of India built in Indo-western style. It was built before independence for the Governor General of India.

Sansad Bhavan

It is also known as the Parliament of India, which is the supreme legislative body of India. It is a circular building, which was designed by a couple of British architects.

Raj Ghat

It is on the bank of the Yamuna River and is a memorial of Mahatma Gandhi “The Father of the Nation”. It is a black marble platform and marks the spot of the cremation of Mahatma Gandhi. Two museums are located nearby, which are dedicated to the great man.

Akshardharam Temple

It is the largest Hindu temple in the world built in the last decade in the year 2005. In fact, it is an architectural marvel of modern India built in the Indian style of architecture. In some ways, it has been described as an epitome of Indian craftsmanship.

Laxminarayan Temple

This temple is also known as the Birla Mandir, which was built by the industrialist J.D Birla in the year 1938. It is the temple of the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi and her consort Narayana.

Lotus Temple

It is a temple which is built in a lotus like pattern, and hence, commonly known as the Lotus temple. It is the Bahai  community temple

Apart from all these places, there is a monument, which is a must see when you are in Delhi. It is not inside Delhi, but it is located very near to it and that is the Taj Mahal in Agra.
