Windows 10 is the latest operating system from Microsoft and the OS comes with several improvements. We will have a look at the history of all the popular operating systems from Microsoft over the years.

Microsoft was formed in the 1980s by Bill Gates when he designed Windows 1.0. This was a major breakthrough in the operating system world as the company introduced easy access ability of file storage and multiple input devices. However, the company didn't earn enough from this OS because the common world was still trying to adapt to computers. The major breakthrough came when Microsoft introduced Windows 95. Windows 95 became the first fully functional GUI based OS which took the PC world by surprise. From a geek’s plaything, computers became usable for one and all. The OS was so popular that even in 2007, 10 years after the original launch, the OS was found in older computers and many users denied to upgrade to modern version of Windows.

However, what Windows 95 started, Windows 98 took even further. This came with many improvements including more device support, driver installation with GUI process and better security features. It also was faster than Windows 95, thanks to a leaner coding. Built mainly using C++, this operating system didn't change the look and feel of Windows 95 so the migration was not difficult for users.

However, Windows XP was perhaps the most popular and revolutionary OS from Microsoft which came in 2000. Microsoft failed with two versions, Windows 2000 and Windows NT before they came up with Windows XP. XP stands for Extended Protocol. The best feature of Windows XP was the plug and play support for many hardware including keyboard and mouse, two things which were very tricky to install, previously. When keyboards and mouse started to work out of the box, life because easy for many users. Moreover, this OS brought very beautiful visual changes as well. However, among technical improvements, this was a faster OS than Windows 98 and 95 and it supported more RAM and bigger HDD size.

However, the official support for Windows XP ended in 2014 and Microsoft launched Windows 10. Due to several improvements, many users are opting for Windows 10 migration from older operating systems. The operating system is the best for modern computing needs and the Microsoft is offering it for free. With Windows 7 also going to expire very soon, Windows 10 is the best choice for your computers.
