Yes, disco music was even hated by a certain section of people. Disco service though popular in the 70s, the popularity was among a diverse group of audiences. Disco was only popular among the black and gay community. The whites did not like the concept of disco. They were unhappy that people had to dress up and spend their money on the disco. Thus, between the late 1970s and early 1980s, disco was hated for certain reasons.

Disco and clubs primarily dominated the blacks, and the preferred music was funky and rock genres.

The hatred towards disco music and disco services was quite strong, as popular black and gay groups even received death threats.

What Was the Significance of Disco Services Back Then?

Similar to the present times, disco was considered to be an integral part of nightlife back then. Disco music was one of the most loved sounds to groove in the 1970s. It was even considered one of the best options for taking your loved one out on a date.
