High precision 3 axis FT Sensor | AIDIN ROBOTICS
The AIDIN ROBOTICS 3-axis
F/T Sensor (3FT1000/2000 series) is a
high-precision force-and-torque sensor specifically engineered for humanoid
robotic applications. According to the product details, this sensor is mounted
on the robot’s ankle (or other joint/foot applications) to capture critical
ground reaction forces and torques, enabling more stable, human-like walking
and posture control.
Key Features and Capabilities
Ø
It is designed to measure forces
and torsional moments in three axes: vertical force (Fz), and two moment axes
(MX and MY).
Ø It supports a high load capacity — the 3FT1000/2000 series can measure up
to approximately 2,000 N of force, while maintaining a compact form factor to
suit ankle or joint integration.
Ø Because it detects both load and posture of the foot (or joint) in real
time, it enables the robot’s control system to respond to ground contact
events, uneven terrain, twisting/tipping motions and other disturbances —
thereby improving gait stability and motion precision.
Ø The sensor is versatile: although its primary application is the ankle of
a humanoid robot, the documentation notes it “can be applied to various parts
of humanoid robots, such as joints and ankles”.
Why this matters for humanoid robotics
In humanoid robotics, stability during walking and interaction with the
environment is critically dependent on accurate sensing of foot–ground contact
forces, moments, and distribution of load. Embedding a dedicated 3-axis
force/torque sensor at the ankle provides the robot’s control system with the
feedback needed to adapt to irregular surfaces, detect slippage or tipping,
adjust joint torques dynamically, and maintain a stable center of mass and foot
placement. The AIDIN sensor’s high load capacity means it can accommodate
realistic weights and dynamic forces encountered during walking or
human-interaction tasks. By integrating this sensor, a humanoid robot can
approach more natural gait patterns, safer movement, and higher interaction
fidelity.
