8 Ways To Blend Extensions With Short Hair
Everyone has had the experience of wanting to change their
style and then having hair regret the next day. Unlike a breakup, short hair
isn't permanent.
Unlike a breakup, we advise going for it when your history
comes knocking!
So what?
The answer is Clip
in Hair Extensions, which allow you to have short and long hair without any
commitment or damage to your hair.
How to integrate short hair extensions
Pia Muehlenbeck, one of our favorite travel and lifestyle
YouTubers, has lent her expertise on how to clip in and mix hair extensions
with short hair (even a lob). In between
photos, Pia's hair length changes from short to long, which is part of her
famed lob (long bob). Pia has mastered
combining hair extensions with her short hair using hair extensions.
Blending extensions with short hair
1. USE A DEEP-SET
Pia combines two sets of distinct hues with her natural
hair. She layers wefts from the 220g Ombre Chestnut and 220g Ombre Blonde Sets
to produce a blended appearance. If you're using a single set, go for our
heaviest 220g set because you'll need more hair to move from shorter to longer
pieces seamlessly. Before clipping in your extensions, brush your hair out with
a Loop Hair Extensions Brush.
2. PIN AWAY YOUR HAIR BOTTOM SECTION
This is a terrific hack for integrating hair extensions with
short hair around the nape of your neck. Clip the rest of your hair away,
leaving only a little section at the bottom. Twist or braid the remaining
section, then pin it flat on the nape of your next. Clip-in your first weft of
extensions here.
3. COLOR MIXING FOR DIMENSION
Pia has 220g Ombre Chestnut and 220g Ombre Blonde Luxy Hair
extensions. To mix hair extensions with short hair and hair with highlights or
multi-tones, Pia created these sets. Using two colors adds volume and depth to
the hair. Adding color with balayage hair extensions is another option. Use two
colors and clip the extensions alternately to obtain a smooth mix.
A perk?
This gives you natural appearing sun-kissed highlights
without any sun exposure!
4. TEASE ROOTS FOR MORE GRIP
You may need more hold at the roots if you have fine hair. Tease
your natural hair by backcombing the strands.
5 - RISE ABOVE ORDINARY
Remember that when clipping in your short hair extensions,
you want to cover as much of your natural short hair as possible. This implies
your extensions will be higher on your head, which is great. Clip-in the rest
of your hair extensions until you reach the crown.
6 - MAKE A LONG MEGA-WEFT FOR SHORT LAYERS.
Clip-in two 3-clip wefts side by side at the broadest point
of your head, which will be your brows. They will be laid side by side, with a
tiny overlap at the rear. In Pia's tutorial, she produces one huge mega-weft
covering all her shorter layers. Clip-in your last four clip wefts in the same
way. This will secure the other wefts in your hair and create one unified weft.
7. FACE-FRAME THE FRONT
Pia shortened both of her 3-clip wefts in front of her face.
Face framing layers merge more organically into shorter layers. Because Luxy
Hair extensions comprise 100% Remy human hair, they can be cut and styled like
natural hair. Still, we recommend taking them to a professional stylist!
Finish by clipping in your clip wefts wherever you need more
volume or length. Place the dark ones first, then the lighters closer to your
face.
