As is the case with most of us, our memory isn’t exactly 100% accurate all the time. Many of us are absent minded, and we forget where we’ve kept our belongings on a daily basis. We leave our cell phones at work, our wallets at shop counters, and glasses at coffee shops. In this self-help article, we’ll provide some tips on how to stop losing things and train your brain to remember the precise details you need to find your lost items.

Listed below are a few pointers to refer to, to boost your memory.

#1-Give a Place to Everything

First things first, designate a specific space for everything, even if it something as small as your car keys. Get a coat hanger to avoid the last minute hassles, hang up a key holder in the kitchen or right by the door, and a small basket can be the perfect way to keep your phone and glasses in place.

#2-Create Logical Solutions

If you are using both your front door and your back door, it’s logical to alternate where you may keep your keys. Always stick to logical thinking when determining where to keep your belongings. This way, you will always have logical answers to questions like ‘where did I place my keys when I came back from the gym?’ - ‘Oh, I used the backdoor! Here they are!’

#3-Teach Your Brain to Remember

Teaching your brain to remember things isn’t as difficult as it may seem. When you designate places for all your belongings, you actually create a mental picture of putting them there. Creating mental images when you are placing your items in specific locations will ring a bell in your mind, whenever you are looking for something.

#4-Make Use of Sticky Notes… and Your SmartPhone

One of the easiest ways to eliminate the hesitancy when relying on your memory is to make a physical note of an important item you are tucking away in a particularly safe place. You can also use your phone by taking a picture of the item to remember where it is located. Either way, you are creating a fall back resource that you can refer to later, when you are wondering about where your belonging is.

#5-Dedicate a Pouch or Bag to the Things You Keep Losing

A pouch or a bag that you can store all your valuables in, and carry around conveniently is another good option. Majority of people who tend to lose track of their phones, medicines, wallets and other items find it easy to remember them when they have a designed spot in a hand bag.

#6-Ask a Friend to Help You Out

If you have workmates around you at the office all the time, ask them to remind if they see you leaving your belongings at the desk or somewhere else. Do the same at home. Ask your family members to always remind you when they see you leaving your stuff somewhere where you shouldn’t. This will eventually ring bells whenever you see the face of the person reminding you about your valuables.

#7-FiT Tags (Found in Town Tags)

We all own a few things that we never want to lose in public places, like our phones, laptops, and other gadgets. Secure these valuable gadgets with FiT Tags, which will help you locate the missing object with an email from the person who’s found it. Sounds pretty easy, right?
