by Lydia Zhu officer

Summary: The Sony Vegas Pro won't import 1080 60p files from Sony A57, A65, A77, A99, etc Cameras. The easy workaround is to transcode AVCHD to a more editing format, such a Vegas's MPEG-2. Here is how.

Are you using a Sony camera? The new Sony A99 as well A57, A65, A77, Sony Nex-5N, Sony NEX-VG10/VG20, Nex-FS700… can all record super-smooth 1080 60p(50p for PAL) AVCHD videos that delivers stunning picture quality. If you have got one of them, you may meet some incompatible troubles when importing its recorded 60p AVCHD videos to Sony Vegas Pro for editing. Below are two typical issues.

Q1: video playback issues

Can AVCHD video from Sony A57 go straight into latest Vegas Pro 12? I can play the raw file segment with windows media player. No problems viewing it. I also tried to edit in Vegas 11. Same spot is having trouble in Vegas 11. Anyone having a problem like this?

Q2: unsupported file type

The Sony Vegas Pro 11 will not import 1080 60p AVCHD 2 videos directly from my Sony NEX-5N camera. What am I missing here?

Although Sony announced that Vegas Pro was compatible with MTS files since Vegas Pro 8 version on its official site, the video, audio playback or incompatibility issues occurred from time to time. If however you are using 60p you must first transcode the 1080 60p (.mts and .m2ts) videos into a format that Sony Vegas Pro can understand. It also avoids the time-consuming rendering. You can use Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter to achieve the goal in a fast way.

The program works as the best Sony 60p AVCHD Converter. It helps you fast transcode Sony 60p MTS footage to Vegas Pro preferred formats e.g. MPEG-2, WMV for easier editing. What’s more, it’s the optimal tool for converting Sony, Canon, Panasonic, JVC, etc camera or camcorder MTS/M2TS videos to kinds of NLE programs Windows Movie Maker, Avid MC, Adobe Premier Pro, Sony Vegas and more.

Just Download the MTS to Sony Vegas Pro converter and transcode Sony 60p AVCHD files by following the easy steps below:

Step 1. Run the MTS/M2TS Converter and load .mts files to it from Sony camcorders.

Step 2. Get the dropdown menu of “Format” and then move your pointer to “Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas”. Choose MPEG-2 as the output format from the profile list which is the Sony Vegas Pro compatible video format.

Step 3. You can adjust the video and audio parameters, including the Bitrate of Video&Audio, Video Size, Frame Rate, Audio Channels, etc., by clicking the Settings button on the main interface.

Step 4. As soon as all things are finished, please click “Convert” button to start the 60p AVCHD to MEPG-2 conversion.

Once the conversion is 100% completed, you can smoothly copy the converted files to Sony Vegas Pro 8/9/10/11/12.
