It is not possible to think of a day without the use of essential grocery products. Food and grocery expense accounts for a substantial part of our monthly budget, but we can cut the expense on grocery shopping with proven ways. You don’t have to be a financial expert to do this. These are proven methods used and applied by common people like us who care to save a little on shopping grocery products.

Buy Generic Products: Unlike reputed brand products generic products come at a lower price. Most generic products have the same quality as their branded competitors, but they are cheaper because the companies don’t spend in advertising and marketing these products. You can use generic substitute for many products like tomato ketchup, cheese, noodles, pasta, corn flakes to name a few.

Use Leftovers: Don’t throw away the leftover food, they can make delicious meals with little customization and creativity. You can use the leftover chicken to make a tasty salad or chicken fried rice.

Online Shopping: Online grocery shopping can be an efficient and smart way to cut the prices on your grocery shopping. Online stores regularly provide grocery offers and you can save money by availing these offers.

Plan Meals and Buy Accordingly: Schedule some time and note down the weekly meal plans. It is the list of the meals you want to have for the next week.  Buy the grocery items according to your meal plans. While doing this try to be creative and keep the nutrition requirements of the family in mind. Planning weekly meals has many benefits:

·         You will have a worry free week because there will be lesser decisions to make.

·         There is a lesser chance of buying unwanted items

Eat Simple and healthy meals: Simpler and healthier meals can be anything ranging from rice with lentils and vegetables or chicken curry with chapatti. Simpler meals are healthy and need lesser ingredients.

Avoid unwanted products: You can save a good amount of money if you ignore some grocery products or buy alternative products. There are many grocery items that can be avoided; for example: paper towels, expensive aluminum foils, processed food to name a few.
