What you carry inside your gym bag is unique to your needs and most of the times reflect the fitness goals of those who are carrying it. Here are few things that you must include in your gym bag to make your workout more productive:
Training clothes: No matter how hard you practice, without the right training clothes your performance will always be below the par. Planning to hit the gym after returning from work? Make sure you don’t forget to pack a pair of gym clothes in your bag. When it comes to gym clothing, pay more attention to the fit over fashion. Make sure the clothing is comfortable, well-fitted and made up of breathable materials.
Workout shoes: Unless you are an advanced lifter, traditional cross training shoes and running shoes will serve the purpose for you. Look for a good pair of trainers that are comfortable and fit perfectly well. Avoid buying the cheap options to prevent blisters. Apart from a good pair of trainers you also need a pair of flip flop shower shoes to be worn in the shower and anytime you take off your trainers.
Shaker bottle: A good quality shaker bottle is a must-have in your gym bag. Use it to store water, pre-workout supplement or your post workout protein. The bottle should be easy to use and drink from and shouldn’t spill the liquid inside the bag.
First aid: Most gyms have their own first aid materials and kits, it never hurts to bring your own bandages, facial wipes and antiseptics. You can also carry a bottle of dry shampoo, deodorant, lip balm, towel and sunscreen. Carrying an extra pair of socks will also come handy. For workouts that put a lot of pressure on knees and joints you can carry knee and ankle braces in your bag.
Water: Working out can lead to lots of sweating and therefore proper hydration is a must. Rather than buying bottled water outdoors, it is recommended to bring your own water bottle and some healthy nibbles to keep you energized and reduce those post workout cravings. Music player: Music can be your best companion when you are working out alone. Don’t forget to carry your phone or maybe pack an Mp3 player and a pair of headphone in your gym bag.
